NBCUniversal brings you the latest innovation in LED production lighting, the NBCUniversal LightBlade. In partnership with Cineo Lighting, this new line of high performance lighting combines NBCUniversal's decades of production and broadcast experience with Cineo's award-winning proprietary technologies.
Individual Blades are the key component to the modular Edge fixtures. At 24” (610mm) or 48” (1.2m) wide by 2 1/2” (64mm) deep, the individual LightBlade bring you both versatility and a low profile footprint that can efficiently and discreetly light even the darkest and tightest corners of your set.
The Edge fixtures offer a unique modular design. LightBlades are integrated into the mounting system to create the Edge 160 (2-Blade) and Edge 320 (4-Blade) fixtures, delivering 10,000 or 20,000 lumens. The LightBlades in the Edge fixture can be set to operate as an integrated light source, or they can operate independently for dynamic lighting effects.
The Edge modular fixtures offer the simplicity of a complete lighting fixture with the flexibility of individual LightBlade control. Developed in partnership with Cineo Lighting, NBCUniversal LightBlade products are versatile, lightweight, silent and flicker-free, and built to endure the wear and tear of staging and production.
Individual light engines are the key component to the modular LED system that the LightBlade product line builds its foundation on. At 48 inches wide by 2 ½ inches deep, the individual LightBlades bring you both versatility and a low profile lighting option that can efficiently and discreetly light even the darkest and tightest corners of your set. The patented LightBlade engine provides users with the ability to put RGB color on reference quality white light in a single or laddered studio fixture. This type of technology is HSV - Hue Saturation Value - layering color on top of white light. This means that different shades, tints, and tones can be achieved easily without affecting the color hue, making for more faithful representations of a particular color on camera.
Utilizing individual light blades in a 4’x4’ footprint, the LB1K is a sleek and powerful lighting tool that is as effective on location as it is on set. The 1K gets its name from its amperage draw but boasts an output comprable to larger HMI and incandescent fixtures. The LB1K features a user interface consisting of an intuitive control panel that guarantees ease of use - allowing users to achieve more complex and sophisticated lighting effects with the push of a button. The LB1K also features Cineo Zone Control, 10 zones within the fixture which can be independently controlled. Remote access is achieved via the integrated lumen radio using CRMX bidirectional wireless DMX/RDM. The LB1K also offers a fabric accessory solution which gives the user ultimate control and allows them to shape their light accordingly.
Building on the patent-pending NBCUniversal ladder light design, the LightBlade Ladder Light takes the next step in lighting evolution via the Cineo Lighting patent pending zone control feature, which gives users the ability to change color and intensity between LightBlades simultaneously, so mimicking movement and shadow within a single fixture is achievable. This allows users to creatively light specific parts of their backing without extensive manpower and set changes, thus cutting production costs and saving time during principal. This allows users to fine tune color to meet the specific background of a scene in real time, putting the ability to make your skies bluer, your grass greener and your sun brighter all at your programmer’s finger tips, thus offering tangible savings in post.
The LB800 uses proprietary phosphorconverted white light LEDs, as well as phosphor-converted saturated color LEDs. These work together to create a balanced, natural-looking spectrum. The saturated color LEDs use the exact same dies as the white LEDs, so all light emitting elements of the LightBlade products carry identical thermal stability and perform over time with consistent color quality.
There are three current LightBlade configurations now available for rental, the LightBlades stand-alone linear source, the LB1K, an integrated 4' x 4' soft source, and the LightBlade Ladder Light, which continues the familiar form factors of NBCUniversal's backdrop lighting system.
NBCUniversal LightBlade products are versatile, lightweight, silent and flicker-free. Each unit is built to endure the wear and tear of staging and production both on and off set.
Simple, sleek modular design provides flexibility to use blades individually and to use the same light engine in larger format fixtures. This modular design is vital to the Cineo patent pending Zone Control feature found exclusively in LightBlade products. Zone Control offers users the ability to control pairs of blades autonomously of each other to bring a further degree of control to the entire fixture.
Cineo Full Gamut Five Color (2700, 6500, Red, Green, Blue) LED chips allow users to create reference quality white light with the ability to overlay fully saturated color essentially eliminating the need for costly gels. This process is in essence an extension to HSV in that it permits tunable CCT visible only to the camera.
Cineo has been widely recognized among the leaders in solid state lighting design for their superior color rendering, specifically in the R9 value. LightBlade will boast a 95 average CRI at 3200K & 5600K while maintaining a CRI over 96 in the R9 value.
Each LightBlade has a 50W draw with an impressive punch of over 12 F/C at 10’ or approximately 60 lumens per watt. Each blade is flicker free to 5,000 FPS.
The LightBlade offers a completely silent, passive cooling operation.
In addition to energy savings, the ability to layer color on top of quality white light gives users the ability to digitally gel any color desired, saving money on costly gels and on the labor spent skinning gel frames. Users are guaranteed to save on valuable production time by making lighting scheme changes instantaneously, allowing DPs to explore creative options without the inconvenience and time involved in adjusting lighting instruments.
LightBlade is also available at all Manhattan Beach Studio Equipment Company Locations in the US, Canada and Europe.
